Replication code and data for all results of the project "Little Evidence That Military Policing Reduces Crime Or Improves Human Security”.

Notes:

Code files: - 00_Master.do: indicates the order in which to run all other do-files. - 01_Housekeeping.do: defines paths and packages used in the project. - 02_Run_Randomization_Inference.do: randomizes the treatment assignment using 100,000 simulations. These simulations are used to calculate the randomization inference p-values reported in the tables and figures. - 03_Tables.do: produces the main and appendix tables for the project, including randomization inference p-values. - 04_Figures.do: produces the main and appendix figures for the project, including randomization inference p-values Data files: - admin data after.dta: administrative crime data at the block level from the Office of the Attorney General. This dataset only includes crimes committed after the intervention. - admin data during.dta: administrative crime data at the block level from the Office of the Attorney General. This dataset only includes crimes committed during the intervention. - admin data prior.dta: administrative crime data at the block level from the Office of the Attorney General. This dataset only includes crimes committed before the intervention. - manzanas restricted.dta: cross-section of sample blocks. It contains the main ID variables of each block, as well as variables identifying the code of all adjacent treatment blocks within a 25-meter radius. These variables are used to assign blocks to the spillover group. - patrols block data.dta: descriptive data on patrols aggregated at the block level. - patrols data.dta: descriptive data on patrols at the individual level. - survey endline.dta: original household survey of 7,921 randomly selected residents and business owners. This was conducted between January 17 and February 25, 2020, between two and three months after the end of the intervention. - survey monitoring.dta: original household survey of 2,096 randomly selected residents. This was conducted between October 17 and December 19, 2019, beginning while the intervention was ongoing and continuing for roughly a month after it ended. - block_simulate_randomizations_pXX.dta: contains the simulations of the treatment assignment used to calculate the randomization inference p-values. There are 10,000 simulations in each database, for a total of 100,000 simulations in all 10 databases.
