The data are the result of a lengthy coding process in which two researchers independently explore each known mobilization with all available secondary sources and, if they determine that it meets the thresholds, separately code its observable characteristics; any coding disagreements are resolved by moderated debate until the researchers reach consensus. The data cover 16 variables on movement characteristics, including mobilizing identities, organization, and action, for the 19 countries of the Middle East and North Africa from 1900-2012.
<sumDscr><nation>Algeria</nation><nation>Bahrain</nation><nation>Egypt</nation><nation>Iran, Islamic Republic of</nation><nation>Iraq</nation><nation>Israel</nation><nation>Jordan</nation><nation>Kuwait</nation><nation>Lebanon</nation><nation>Libya</nation><nation>Morocco</nation><nation>Oman</nation><nation>Qatar</nation><nation>Saudi Arabia</nation><nation>Syrian Arab Republic</nation><nation>Tunisia</nation><nation>Turkey</nation><nation>United Arab Emirates</nation><nation>Yemen</nation><anlyUnit>Movements</anlyUnit></sumDscr></stdyInfo><method><dataColl><sources/></dataColl><notes type="DATAPASS:TERMS:STANDARD:1.0" subject="STANDARD DEPOSIT TERMS 1.0">This study was deposited under the of the Data-PASS standard deposit terms.
