The evidence from the survey, along with program experience among NGOs in northern Uganda, suggests that the development of new economic opportunities and building social capital will be crucial ingredients in reducing poverty and improving the health, education and psychosocial well-being of youth, especially young women.
<sumDscr><collDate cycle="P1" event="start" date="2009">2009</collDate><collDate cycle="P1" event="end" date="2011">2011</collDate><nation>Uganda</nation><geogCover>Kitgum and Gulu districts</geogCover><anlyUnit>Individual</anlyUnit><universe>Extremely poor, war-affected women</universe><dataKind>Survey data</dataKind></sumDscr></stdyInfo><method><dataColl><dataCollector>Innovations for Poverty Action</dataCollector><sampProc>120 communities chose 15 to 20 of their neediest residents for the program and grant.
