Nevertheless, a growing body of research has found weak or limited support for the notion that voters punish political corruption, a central but partial aspect of institutional quality. In order to capture the full range of institutional dysfunction an electorate should be incentivized to punish, I further the concept of institutional performance voting, that is, voting on institutional quality as a whole. Using a novel dataset on performance audit reports in Swedish municipalities between 2003 and 2014, I find that audit critique is associated with a statistically significant but substantively moderate electoral loss of about a percentage point for mayoral parties, while simultaneously associated with a 14 percentage point decrease in their probability of reelection."}}]},{"typeName":"subject","multiple":true,"typeClass":"controlledVocabulary","value":["Social Sciences"]},{"typeName":"keyword","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Retrospective voting"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Institutional quality"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Sweden"}}]},{"typeName":"depositor","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Broms, Rasmus"},{"typeName":"dateOfDeposit","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"2021-06-04"}]}},"files":[{"description":"Do-file producing tables and figures ","label":"grbg_replication_210604.do","restricted":false,"version":1,"datasetVersionId":247588,"dataFile":{"id":4777463,"persistentId":"","filename":"grbg_replication_210604.do","contentType":"application/x-stata-syntax","friendlyType":"Stata Syntax","filesize":5937,"description":"Do-file producing tables and figures ","storageIdentifier":"s3://dvn-cloud:179d76db02a-fc071ab67e09","rootDataFileId":-1,"md5":"ac0a4eea74ae2e0df49a6d9d121acf03","checksum":{"type":"MD5","value":"ac0a4eea74ae2e0df49a6d9d121acf03"},"tabularData":false,"creationDate":"2021-06-04","publicationDate":"2021-06-09","fileAccessRequest":false}},{"description":"Data file","label":"grbg_replication_210604.tab","restricted":false,"version":3,"datasetVersionId":247588,"dataFile":{"id":4777462,"persistentId":"","filename":"grbg_replication_210604.tab","contentType":"text/tab-separated-values","friendlyType":"Tab-Delimited","filesize":114256,"description":"Data file","storageIdentifier":"s3://dvn-cloud:179d76d8f6b-f2cfb322e7eb","originalFileFormat":"text/csv","originalFormatLabel":"Comma Separated Values","originalFileSize":114533,"originalFileName":"grbg_replication_210604.csv","UNF":"UNF:6:wVcP0bSIzykXiANVzU2PBQ==","rootDataFileId":-1,"md5":"03c5c9fac74cdf58aef168fac632e16d","checksum":{"type":"MD5","value":"03c5c9fac74cdf58aef168fac632e16d"},"tabularData":true,"creationDate":"2021-06-04","publicationDate":"2021-06-09","fileAccessRequest":false}},{"description":"General information & variable list","label":"readme.txt","restricted":false,"version":1,"datasetVersionId":247588,"dataFile":{"id":4777464,"persistentId":"","filename":"readme.txt","contentType":"text/plain","friendlyType":"Plain Text","filesize":1488,"description":"General information & variable list","storageIdentifier":"s3://dvn-cloud:179d76dc237-bafe35523e84","rootDataFileId":-1,"md5":"c31b1874c697f633cee7392f993633b0","checksum":{"type":"MD5","value":"c31b1874c697f633cee7392f993633b0"},"tabularData":false,"creationDate":"2021-06-04","publicationDate":"2021-06-09","fileAccessRequest":false}}],"citation":"Broms, Rasmus, 2021, \"Replication Data for: Good Riddance to Bad Government?
