Maximum proton energies significantly greater than established scaling laws were observed, consistent with observations at other multi-ps laser facilities. In addition, maximum proton energies and electron temperatures in this regime were found to be strongly dependent on the laser pulse duration and preplasma conditions. A modified proton scaling model is presented that is able to better represent the accelerated proton characteristics in this multi-ps regime."}}]},{"typeName":"subject","multiple":true,"typeClass":"controlledVocabulary","value":["Physics"]},{"typeName":"keyword","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"electron acceleration"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"laser facilities"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"laser intensities"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"laser pulse duration"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"laser-driven electrons"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"picosecond regime"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"proton acceleration"}},{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"short-pulse lasers"}}]},{"typeName":"notesText","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"<a href=\"http://library.psfc.mit.edu/catalog/reports/2020/21ja/21ja052/abstract.php\">PSFC REPORT PSFC/JA-21-52</a><br /><br />The authors would also like to thank Alex Haid at General Atomics for his work in assembling the targets used in this experiment under NNSA Contract No. DE-NA0001808.
