Data were collected in the 11th grade classrooms in the fall of 1975. The package of instruments used consisted of four verbal Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) cues; the \"Who am I?\" test, which elicits 10 different open-ended responses to that question; \"The Way I Am\" and \"The Way I Would Like to Be\" scales, which are modified Q-sort descriptions of self and ideal self; and finally, a one-page general information questionnaire consisting of short answer questions about age, family, education, and extracurricular activities.
