The Healthy Communities Database is a model practice database that includes practices and initiatives which counties have implemented to prevent childhood obesity.  Topics include: nutritious diets, physical activity, built environments, and social environments.   <p><b>User Functionality</b></p> Users can search for model\npractices by state, county size (i.e., small, medium, large), issue areas, practice type (i.e., initiative, policy, program), or keyword. These folders offer a starting place for your search.  You can narrow your search further by performing either of the two searching techniques mentioned below.\r\n\r\n<p><b>Basic Search</b></p>Locate the Search Studies highlighted box below. Leave Cataloging Information as the default basic search command. To search, enter the keyword, topic or area of interest in field box (next to Cataloging Information) to obtain a list of resources that apply to your search.\r\n\r\n<p><b>Advanced Search</b></p> Click on the Advanced Search link located on the right hand side of the Search Studies box. From the Search Scope drop down lists, choose either Keyword, Abstract, or Geographic Unit (these are the most detailed fields used by MCH Data Connect). If entering Geographic Unit- please enter one of the following: <em>International, U.S. national, U.S. regional, U.S. state, U.S. county, U.S. city.</em> \r\n\r\n<p><h2>Accessing Resources </h2></p>\r\nOnce the search is completed, a list of resources will appear. The first line provides a brief summary of the resource. To get more information (including producer, background, user functionality, and data sources) about the specific resource, click on the underlined/ blue hyperlinked title. Once the resource description is opened, click on the link that says <em>“Click here to access data from site”</em> to go directly to the resource's web page.\r\n\r\n<p><h2>Glossary</h2></p>\r\nSome terms you will see on this website are unique to the cataloging service, Dataverse;  MCH Data Connect uses them differently.
