Data is collected on maternal attitudes, behaviors and experiences before, during and immediately after pregnancy. PRAMS collects state-specific information and allows for comparisons across states on a number of maternal and child health indicators. These health indicators include, but are\nnot limited to: unintended pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum depression, prenatal care, and birth weight.\n
User Functionality
From the website, users can access the PRAMS full surveillance reports, fact sheets and reports on specific topics. Users who are interested in the full data set must submit a proposal; information on how to do so is clearly available on the site. Users can also access CPONDER, which is CDC's PRAMS Online Data for Epidemiological Research to gather data from the PRAMs surveys.
Data Notes
PRAMS is currently conducted in 31 states and 1 city. Part\nicipants are women who have recently had a live birth, and each state typically samples between 1,300 and 3,400 women per year. The survey began in 1987 and is conducted annually. Surveillance reports are available for 1995-2000,2002. The most recent full year of available data is 2007 with some data available from 2008. The site does not specify when the next report or the most current data will become available.","citation:dsDescriptionDate":"2011-04"},"citation:datasetContact":{"citation:datasetContactEmail":"N/A"},"dateOfDeposit":"2009-08-11","title":"Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)","geospatial:geographicUnit":"U.S. national, U.S. state","citation:subtitle":"Centers for Disease Control and Prevention","@id":"https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/NI6PWW","@type":["ore:Aggregation","schema:Dataset"],"schema:version":"2.0","schema:name":"Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)","schema:dateModified":"Thu Apr 14 17:58:09 UTC 2011","schema:datePublished":"2009-08-11","schema:creativeWorkStatus":"RELEASED","schema:license":"http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0","dvcore:fileTermsOfAccess":{"dvcore:fileRequestAccess":false},"schema:includedInDataCatalog":"Harvard Dataverse","schema:isPartOf":{"schema:name":"MCH Data Connect Dataverse","@id":"https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/dataconnect","schema:description":"

Welcome to MCH Data Connect

\r\nThe purpose of this website is to provide public health professionals, researchers, policy makers, and students with a comprehensive catalog of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) data sets, interactive tools, and other resources. \r\n
For questions, comments, and suggestions related to MCH Data Connect or a specific resource- please email us at mchdataconnect@gmail.com
\r\n\r\n
Please note that some terms you will see on this website are unique to the cataloging service, Dataverse; MCH Data Connect uses them differently.
