The data was collected using an adapted version of the Women's Empowerment in Agricultural Index (WEAI) as part of the ‘Rural Market Opportunities' project implemented by Swisscontact and in partnership with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT were initially used to inform the development of gender and social inclusion strategies for project interventions in agricultural value chains. Methodology: In the first part of the survey, the principal woman and man of the household were interviewed together. The first part of the survey covers 4 modules. In the second part of the survey, the principal man and woman of the household were interviewed separately. The second part covers 12 modules. If the household had a principal woman, but not a principal man, the survey was administered only to the woman.
