    <description descriptionType="Abstract">The dataset was created to quantify the magnitude of within-leaf and wihtin-canopy variations in the phyllosphere bacterial and fungal communities in european beech and the impact of such variations on microbial succession during leaf decomposition. The dataset is composed of FASTA files, Amplicon Sequence Variant (ASV) tables, the R code to generate ASV tables from raw sequences and the metadata including description of samples collected (geographic location, dates, trees, canopy and leaf position of the samples).</description>
