was georeferenced to common points located on scanned, georeferenced quadrangles from the Topographische Karte 1:50,000 map series published in 1996 by the Landvermessung\namt Nordrhein-Westfalen. For this image, the following map was used for linking: Blatt L5106 Koln. This map was scanned at 300 dpi and georeferenced to the four corner tic marks in the Deutsches Hauptdreiecksnetz (DHDN) 3-degree Gauss-Kruger Zone 2 coordinate system. The RMS error for the georeferenced quadrangle was 20.11563 meters. The TIFF image of the historic map was subsequently georeferenced to the quadrangle in the same coordinate system. A world file (.tfwx) was automatically generated and saved in association with the TIFF image. See 'Horizontal Accuracy' for the RMS error of the image.
