All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as roads, drainage, selected buildings and fortifications, and more. Includes list of references to names of streets and buildings. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps from The Harvard Map Collection as part of the Imaging the Urban Environment project. Maps selected for this project represent major urban areas and cities of the world, at various time periods. These maps typically portray both natural and manmade features at a large scale. Vector shapefiles were downloaded from the Louisiana Statewide GIS (ATLAS) website which is the official public portal for geospatial data. For this image, the following vector shapefile(s) were used as base maps for reference: Tiger Roads Orleans 2004. The image was georeferenced to and stored in the NAD83 StatePlane Louisiana So\nuth (feet) coordinate system. ArcMap 9.2 software was utilized for the georeferencing process, and a .tfwx (world file) was automatically generated and saved in association with the digital image.
