The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 18N NAD83 projection. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as roads, drainage, cities and towns, battle sites, fortifications, points of military interests, and more. Relief is shown pictorially. reference points located on digital vector shapefiles. Vector shapefiles were downloaded from various sources including: the New York State GIS, the New Jersey DEP Bureau of GIS, and ESRI. For this image, the following vector shapefile(s) were used as base maps for reference: ESRI Data\n& Maps 2005 Hydrolines; ESRI Data & Maps 2005 U.S. GNIS Populated Places (1:100,000); New York State County Boundaries (clipped to shorelines) (shorelines 1:250,000; other 1:24,000) (1999). The majority of the NYGIS vector data is stored in the NAD83 UTM Zone 18N (meters) coordinate system, and this digital image was subsequently georeferenced to the same projection. ArcMap 9.2 software was utilized for the georeferencing process, and a .tfwx (world file) and an .aux.xml file was automatically g\nenerated and saved in association with the digital image.
