Scale [ca. 1:57,900]. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Illinois East State Plane Coordinate System NAD83 (in Feet) (Fipszone 1201). All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as roads, ra\nilroads, railroad stations, drainage, the location of the World's Columbian Exposition, 1893, and more. Includes list of railroads entering Chicago. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps from The Harvard Map Collection as part of the Imaging the Urban Environment project. Maps selected for this project represent major urban areas and cities of the world, at various time periods. These maps typically portray both natural and manmade features at a large scale. For this image, the following vector shapefile(s) were used as base maps for reference: ESRI Data\n& Maps 2007 : U.S. and Canada Streets (1:100,000). The image was georeferenced to and stored in the NAD83 StatePlane Illinois East (feet) coordinate system. ArcMap 9.2 software was utilized for the georeferencing process, and a .tfwx (world file) and aux.xml file were automatically generated and saved in association with the digital image.
