Novr. 1776, and survey'd immediately after by order of His Lordship, by Claude Joseph Sauthier, to which is added the attack made to the northd. by the Hessians ; survey'd by order of Lieutt. Genl. Knyphausen. It was published by Wm. Faden in 1777. Scale [ca. 1:20,000]. Covers Manhattan north of 92nd St. and a portion of the Bronx. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 18N NAD83 projection. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as topography, ground cover, roads, drainage, forts, battery, redoubts, barracks, troop and battle locations, and other defenses, landings, bridges, and more. reference points located on digital vector shapefiles. Vector shapefiles were downloaded from various sources including: the New York State GIS, the New Jersey DEP Bureau of GIS, and ESRI. For this image, the following vector shapefile(s) were used as base maps for reference: ESRI Data\n& Maps 2005 : U.S. Major Roads (1:50,000). In addition to vector data, this image was also linked to other georeferenced maps including: David H. Burr's Map of the city and county of New York : with the adjacent country, 1829, sheet 2; and S. Stiles & Co.'s Topographical map of the city and county of New-York and the adjacent country, 1845, sheet 2. The majority of the NYGIS vector data is stored in the NAD83 UTM Zone 18N (meters) coordinate system, and this digital image was subsequently georef\nerenced to the same projection. ArcMap 9.2 software was utilized for the georeferencing process, and a .tfwx (world file) and an .aux.xml file was automatically generated and saved in association with the digital image.
