It was published by George Philip\n& Son L[td], The London Geographical Institute in 1900. Scale [ca. 1:15,400]. Covers portions of Liverpool and Birkenhead, England. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the 'British National Grid' coordinate system. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with\nthe principal map. This map shows features such as roads, railroads and stations, drainage, built-up areas and selected buildings and industries, canals, docks, wharves, parks, administrative boundaries, and more. Includes index to public parks, gardens, and recreation grounds, and inset: Extension of the Garston on same scale. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps from The Harvard Map Collection as part of the Imaging the Urban Environment project. Maps selected for this project represent major urban areas and cities of the world, at various time periods. These maps typically portray both natural and manmade features at a large scale. The selection represents a range of regions, originators, ground condition dates, scales, and purposes."}}]},{"typeName":"topicClassification","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Maps"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Human settlements"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Cities and towns"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Land use"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Landforms"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Infrastructure (Economics)"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Transportation"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Bodies of water"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"LCSH"}},{"topicClassValue":{"typeName":"topicClassValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"imageryBaseMapsEarthCover"},"topicClassVocab":{"typeName":"topicClassVocab","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"ISO 19115 Topic Category"}}]},{"typeName":"producer","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"producerName":{"typeName":"producerName","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Harvard Map Collection, Harvard College Library"}},{"producerName":{"typeName":"producerName","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Harvard Map Collection, Harvard College Library"}},{"producerName":{"typeName":"producerName","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"George Philip & Son."}},{"producerName":{"typeName":"producerName","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"London Geographical Institute."}}]},{"typeName":"productionDate","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"N/A"},{"typeName":"productionPlace","multiple":true,"typeClass":"primitive","value":["Cambridge, Massachusetts"]},{"typeName":"distributor","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"distributorName":{"typeName":"distributorName","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Harvard Geospatial Library"}}]},{"typeName":"timePeriodCovered","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"timePeriodCoveredStart":{"typeName":"timePeriodCoveredStart","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"1900"}}]},{"typeName":"kindOfData","multiple":true,"typeClass":"primitive","value":["map"]}]},"geospatial":{"displayName":"Geospatial Metadata","name":"geospatial","fields":[{"typeName":"geographicCoverage","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"otherGeographicCoverage":{"typeName":"otherGeographicCoverage","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"United Kingdom"}}]},{"typeName":"geographicBoundingBox","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"westLongitude":{"typeName":"westLongitude","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"-3.055671"},"eastLongitude":{"typeName":"eastLongitude","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"-2.852521"},"northLatitude":{"typeName":"northLatitude","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"53.486485"},"southLatitude":{"typeName":"southLatitude","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"53.347388"}}]}]},"socialscience":{"displayName":"Social Science and Humanities Metadata","name":"socialscience","fields":[{"typeName":"samplingProcedure","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Using ArcMap 9.3 software, the digital TIFF image was georeferenced to common points located on a scanned, georeferenced quadrangle from the Ordnance Survey Explorer 1:25,000 topographic map series. This quadrangle was scanned at 300 dpi and georeferenced to the four corner tic marks in the 'British National Grid' coordinate system with a resulting RMS error of 12.45406 meters. The TIFF of the historic map was subsequently georeferenced to the reference quadrangle in the same coordinate system. A world file (.tfw) was automatically generated and saved in association with the TIFF image. See 'Horizontal Accuracy' for the RMS error of this TIFF.
