The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Louisiana State Plane Coordinate System, South NAD27 (in Feet) (Fipszone 1702). All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, or other information associated with the principal map. This is a topographic map showing features such as roads, railroads, canals, levees, drainage, selected public and industrial buildings, cemeteries, Parish boundaries, ferry routes, and more. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps from The Harvard Map Collection as part of the Imaging the Urban Environment project. ESRI's ArcCatalog was used to create a control point shapefile which was populated with latitude and longitude measurements from each quadrangle corner and defined with the NAD27 StatePlane Louisiana South (feet) projection. ArcMap 9.2 software was utilized to georeference the image to the projected control points, and a .tfwx (world file) and an .aux.xml file was generated and saved in association with the digital image.
