The agency used the study data to determine if high schools were meeting the demands of academically excellent, disadvantaged student, the average student, and parents; and to determine how bureaucratic and tightly controlled the schools were. This series contains school-level data from a random sample of 1,448 public secondary schools\nand 454 private secondary schools and state-level data. The files include information on school organization, school facilities, curriculum, school administration, teacher performance evaluation, principal performance evaluation, rules, student behavior, decision-making process, ethnicity, students' family background, state curriculum requirements, state regulations, and state education expenditures.\n
