This series contains summary data on shipments originating from selected types of business establishments located in the states and the District of Columbia. The data are for establishments in mining, manufacturing, wholesale trade, and selected retail industries. The survey also covers selected auxiliary esta\nblishments (e.g., warehouses) of in-scope multi-unit and retail companies. Information includes summary tabulations for the U.S., census regions and divisions, metropolitan areas, and states and include shipments by: transport mode; total modal activity; mode and distance; mode and size; commodity; Standard Classification of Transported Goods (SCTG) and mode; commodity and distance; and commodity and size. Additional summary data are available for export and hazardous material shipments. Export data identify the foreign destination country. The hazardous materials summary data identifies the mode of transportation and materials transported by hazard class and by the United Nations (UN) or North American (NA) hazardous material code.\n
