This series contains data on six types of facilities that provide residential care to persons for an average stay of 30 days or longer: nursing homes and old age homes; facilities for children; facilities for the physically handicapped; psychiatric institutions and asylums; facilities for the mentally handicapped; and other\ninstitutions, such as those offering care for chronic diseases and extended care facilities of short-term hospitals.
