The agency used the files to produce publications, to monitor the current status and trends of the electric power industry, and to evaluate the future of the industry. This series contains data derived from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Form 3 (1964 through 1976) and Energy Information Administration (EIA) Form 412, Annual Report of Publicly Owned E\nlectric Utilities. This series contains annual financial and operation information about publicly owned electric utilities operating in the United States and Puerto Rico. Prior to 1984, data are given for 25 municipal wholesale electric utilities whose revenues from sales for resale are 51 percent or more of total electric operating revenue; 456 municipal retail electric utilities whose revenue from sales for resale are 51 percent or less of total electric operating revenues; and 79 federal projects. Beginning in 1984, data are tabulated from selected annual reports filed with the EIA for over 450 municipalities who engage in the generation, transmission, or distribution of electricity which has 100,000 megawatt hours of sales to ultimate consumers and/or 100,000 megawatt hours of sales for resale in the fiscal year. Data are reported by utility and include balance sheet, income statement, electric operation and maintenance expenses, and electric utility plant data.\n
