This series contains electric utility coal supply contract data and transportation related data collected on Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Form 580, Interrogatory on Fuel and Energy Purchase Practices.  The data are fr\nom all jurisdictional utilities that either operate at least one steam - electric generating station with a capacity of 50 megawatts or greater or have an ownership interest in a jointly-owned steam-electric station with a capacity of 50 megawatts or greater.  In addition, some data is reported by the Interstate Commerce Commission.  Data include utility code and name, contractor name, contract code and activity dates, tons contracted, British Thermal Units contracted, coal quality specifications (sulfur, ash, and moisture quality), mine name, geographic identifiers for origin and destination, plant name and code, transportation mode, transportation rate, and contract type.\n</p> \t\t    <p> \t\t\tThis data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
