The OPINS Officer History File contains a record for each naval officer, warrant officer, and midshipman on active duty.  The OPINS Officer Attrition File contains a record for each naval officer, warrant officer, and midshipman receiv\ning a military discharge.  Each file has identical columns and includes data on areas such as basic personnel information, initial entry, previous service, job skills, education, language skills, service schools, career promotion history, dependents, separation, security clearance, reserve mobilization, naval job specialty, assignments, and pre-commissioning information.\n</p> \t\t    <p> \t\t\tThis data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
