The data was used to target carriers for safety and compliance reviews.  This series contains data on commercial motor carriers and traffic safety. There is information about the nature of commercial motor carriers, state inspections of the drivers and vehicles of motor carriers, and bus and truck accidents that motor carriers reported to th\ne Federal Highway Administration. Records include basic information about the motor carrier, such as name, address, type of cargo transported, types of motor vehicles operated, the number of drivers of the vehicles, and other pertinent information. The state motor carrier inspection data includes information concerning carrier identification, inspection description, driver information, commerical motor vehicle information, hazardous material carried, and violations found during the inspection. The truck and bus traffic accidents data includes information such as the name of the carrier, type of traffic accident, and driver and commercial motor vehicle information.\n</p> \t\t    <p> \t\t\tThis data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
