This series contains basic economic summary data on businesses (individual proprietorships, partnerships, and Subchapter S corporations) owned by Blacks, persons of Hispanic origin, Asian and Pacific Islanders, American Indians and Alaska Natives, and Women. Data include both employers and non-employers. The files provide data on the numbers of minority and women\nowned firms, sales and receipts, annual payroll, and employment. Data aggregates are presented for the U.S. by two-digit Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code, employment and receipt size, and legal form of organization; data at the state level are by two-digit SIC code. For the 1992 and earlier surveys, the Economic Census and Surveys Division had responsibility for these surveys. For the 1997 and later surveys, the Agriculture and Finance Statistics Division and its partial successor, the Company Statistics Division, assumed responsibility.\n
