Poor children who enrolled in school as a result of the incentive influenced their wealthier peers to also enroll. We use a two-stage least squares instrumental variables model to identify these peer effects in PROGRESA eligible villages. This paper adds to the literature on peer effects as well as previous evaluations of PROGRESA by demonstrating that peer ef- fects have the greatest impact when at least 67% of families in treatment villages are receiving the incentive. This result has the policy implication that peer effects may only operate if the density of the peer group exceeds a threshold of approximately 60%."},"dsDescriptionDate":{"typeName":"dsDescriptionDate","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"2011-05"}}]},{"typeName":"publication","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"publicationCitation":{"typeName":"publicationCitation","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Bobonis, Gustavo and Frederico Finan. 2009. “Neighborhood Peer Effects in Secondary School Enrollment Decisions.” The Review of Economics and Statistics 91(4): 695-716."}}]},{"typeName":"dateOfDeposit","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"2011-05-09"}]}},"files":[{"description":"Instructions for obtaining the data","label":"Finger&Soliz obtaining data.docx","restricted":false,"version":1,"datasetVersionId":61215,"dataFile":{"id":2296360,"persistentId":"doi:10.7910/DVN/MRJ8OM/GBMWYB","pidURL":"https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/MRJ8OM/GBMWYB","filename":"Finger&Soliz obtaining data.docx","contentType":"application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document","friendlyType":"MS Word","filesize":42990,"description":"Instructions for obtaining the data","storageIdentifier":"s3://dvn-cloud:67737","rootDataFileId":-1,"md5":"8b867ff49e997cc9ee686c4d2649d480","checksum":{"type":"MD5","value":"8b867ff49e997cc9ee686c4d2649d480"},"tabularData":false,"creationDate":"2011-05-09","publicationDate":"2011-05-08","lastUpdateTime":"2011-05-09T21:25:51Z","fileAccessRequest":false}},{"description":"R Code for \"'But Everybody's Doing It!'
